I got into a cab yesterday where the entertainment was, in order:

Bob Marley – No woman, No Cry

Mariah Carey – My All

Whitney Houston – I Will Always Love You

Bryan Adams – Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman

Toni Braxton – Unbreak My Heart

The Eagles – Hotel California

I have never been in any taxi in Cairo – and I must have been in many hundreds – that played western music. He had an mp3 player, too. He put this music on after I got into the taxi, which – combined with the late hour – caused me a smidgeon of alarm. But he wasn’t even meeting my eyes in the mirror, so I chilled out and began singing along quietly to Hotel California, which encouraged him to tap on the steering wheel. Good taxi ride.
